One of my favourite things about my podcast Starry Sky and Witchy Things is that I get to talk about things I’m passionate about with a variety of wonderful people from all walks of life, many that I would not have connected with otherwise.
One of my biggest passions, though, is retiring a damaging archetype that we associate with artists. That’s why I was beyond myself with excitement when Lisa Drennon asked me to speak on her panel for artists, and when Sarah suggested we talk about it for the Second House real life example episode.
The Second House in Astrology
Traditionally known as the Gates of Hades, this house is commonly associated with possessions and material wealth. But in my life experience as a 2nd House Stellium, I’ve found it to be much more than that.
The Second House symbolises the journey from infancy to self-awareness, where we begin to understand our existence within the material world. As toddlers, we develop a sense of ownership and attachment to possessions, laying the groundwork for our relationship with material wealth.
This house isn’t just about tangible items or money; it encompasses our core values and sense of self-worth. It’s linked to the preceding First House, reflecting how we define ourselves through what we hold dear.
One of the biggest lessons of the Second House is detaching our sense of worth from material possessions. I’ve personally struggled with this, especially in a society that often equates success with wealth. Deconditioning societal expectations and uncovering our true values is a form of shadow work associated with this house. It’s about breaking free from judgment and embracing what truly matters to us, whether it’s luxury items or simple pleasures.
The Second House also sheds light on how we earn money and find financial stability. By examining the rulers of this house and their placements, we can gain insights into our path to prosperity and alignment.
In essence, the Second House invites us to explore our relationship with material wealth and values, guiding us on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. It’s a reminder to prioritise what truly brings us fulfilment and abundance in life.
I have brought on a lot of healers to share the tools that we need to make the entrepreneurial lifestyle feel safe in our bodies, and the importance of that is something we touch on in our conversation.
We talked about a lot of different things and the hour flew by like it always does when you’re having fun with a friend, so without further ado, here’s the episode.
